Mommy - Samuel Day

For work on Saturday, I had to cover three events and took Samuel along for the fun. For the first, a group at JHS were painting Tom's Shoes and Samuel got cotton candy, he was very happy. The second was St. Bernard's Fun Fair. Samuel loves to go to that. He played lots of games, bounced and sat in the fire truck and ambulance. I have pictures of that as well, but they somehow didn't make it from my work computer to home - I'll try and upload those later.

Then we went to J. Christopher Toys grand opening. The toy store recently moved to its new location and had a great day of activities and giveaways for the kids. Mrs. Mary even put in a playground and the kids were able to play for free that day.
While we were there, the Polar Roller gave away fudgecicles and Mrs. Mary gave everyone popcicle holders.
This is their Concotion Station. The kids can make all sorts of fun stuff here including soap that looks like ice cream.

Samuel made a bottle of bubble bath full of bugs and snakes.
And here's a little tour of the store. We are regulars! It's really close to the house, so we often stop and play even if we're not "planning" to buy anything that day. And it's a great place to pickup a quick gift! No trip to Walmart or the mall! Mrs. Mary also does Rockin' Wish List for the kids. They come in and make a list of things they want and then others can see their wish list for birthday parties or Christmas. It's a great thing for a classmates party when you have no idea what in the world to get them!

This is the kid's door out - NO ADULTS! Their own little door!

Occasions 6th Anniversary

In August, Occasions Publishing, celebrated its 6th anniversary. I have worked at the magazine for 4 years and I am the longest running employee, so I've helped put out a lot of issues! To celebrate, we went to Josie's in Waldenburg. They are known for their steaks and their karaoke. Kevin and I did not sing, but several in our group did. It was a lot of fun and my ears rang for an hour after we left!

Tyler's 1st Day

Tyler's 1st day of "school" was Tuesday. He will be attending 1st Baptist Mother's Day on Tuesday and Thursday. He did great on Tuesday, but had to be peeled off of me this morning. He was adorable walking in and out of school with his little backpack on and carrying his lunch bag. He thinks he's just like big brother!

Here's his adorable lunch bag. I got the bag at J. Christopher Toys and had my friend Amy monogram it for me.
Amy also made his wipe case and school box for me and monogramed a matching piece of fabric that I sewed on his backpack. Isn't it all so cute!

1st Day Complete

Samuel had a good first day at school.
This basically sums up how he felt about it...

I have no idea why he wrote his "S" backwards. He said he had to keep writing it until it the right way. But he did write it lowercase - he doesn't like doing that.
He said the playground was a lot of fun and there are 20 kids in his class.
He won't go on Thursday, half the kids went today and the other half will go tomorrow. So he'll meet the other 10 on Friday. He said he's excited about that.
And see what he's already learned from public school! Just kidding!

1st Day of Kindergarten

Samuel headed out today for his first day of Kindergarten. He was excited, but did ask me about 5 times when I was picking him up.

That's one big school for one little boy! When we got inside the school, a big group of teachers, aids and helpers were waiting on us at the top of the Kindergarten hallway. One of the ladies met Samuel, help him with his kindermat and headed down the hallway. He just went with her and seemed not to even care. He's so outgoing that I'm sure he made 5 friends by the time I left the school. The school had a BooHoo breakfast for the parents. We were able to meet other parents and make our kids a Kissing Hand that they will give to them later today.

I put this little note in his lunch. He found it before we ever left the house while I was putting his food in his lunch bag. He asked me what it was and I told him what it said. He said, "Oh, that's neat."

I made this for Samuel's teacher. She's new to the school and I thought she would like to have something with the school's colors. His teacher, Ms. Sara, may be just a temporary teacher for the beginning of the year. His teacher, Ms. Roberts, had to take a medical leave of abscense and will be out until at least Christmas. Ms. Sarah seemed very excited about coming to the school. Ms. Roberts is ASU's football coaches wife and Samuel was very excited about that. I think somehow he thought that meant he got to play football or something. But he was okay with the change too.

I'm really looking forward to picking him up this afternoon and finding out how his day went!

End of T-Ball Party

Tuesday night, Samuel's T-ball finished their season with a final game and party at the YMCA. Only a few of the team were able to stay, but the kids were excited to swim. They ate cookies and received medels from their coach.

Then we went for a swim! Samuel was really excited!
And Tyler loves the water. He kept wanting to swim on his own and it was all we could do sometimes to keep him in our arms. I figure he'll be on the JETS swim team next year. :)

Samuel's Weekend at Grandma's & Grandpa's

Last weekend, Samuel spent 4 days at Grandma and Granpa's house. He always has a busy time when he's there. On Friday, they went to a friends house to swim.

On Saturday, Grandma took him to the Orpheum in Memphis to see Dora Live. He was excited to go and really liked it. He saw Diego a year or two ago and really likes going to see things like that.

Grandma bought him a spinny toe and a Diego backpack.

Afterwards, Grandpa joined them and they went to Chuck E Cheese.

Samuel loves Chuck E Cheese. I'm glad Grandma is willing to take him! LOL

On Sunday, they went to Graceland, home of Elvis.

When Samuel called to tell us he had been to Elvis' house, I asked if he was there. He said "No, he dead, he wasn't there."

Grandma said he really liked using the ear phones and was really good about stopping and starting it when it was time.
And he loved the plane. He was mostly impressed that there was a whole bedroom on the plane.
