On Friday of the boys spring break, we took them to Memphis to The Pink Palace. It is a 100 year old home that was built by the founder of The Piggly Wiggly, but he lost his fortune before it was finished and the creditors donated it to the city of Memphis. They city turned it into a museum. The original home is make of pink limestone and people in Memphis began calling it The Pink Palace and the name stuck.
This is one of the fireplaces in the original home.
One of the traveling exhibits was Chocolate. It told where cocoa is grown and how it's harvested and all about the business of chocolate. I was very hungry by the end!

One of the neatest exhibits is a replica of one of the first Piggly Wiggly stores. It was neat to see how many of the products from back then we still use today.
An old pharmacy as it would have been 100 years ago.
This was probably the boys favorite. It's a mechanized circus. Samuel liked being able to look underneath it to see how it worked.

Samuel enjoyed the natural history and science part of the museum, but Tyler was getting a little tired by then I think. This is Samuel's hand under a special light that allows you to see the veins in your body. Cool and weird! You could see the blood moving through them.
