I know what some of you are thinking - you would never let your kids sleep with you at all. But for us it works when they are little. Before Samuel was born, we said we would never let him sleep with us - that's what cribs are for. But I couldn't even put him down in the hospital. That first night, he slept all night on my chest. When Kevin tried to lay him down, I started crying and told him that he had never been away from me and needed me (post-pregnancy hormones are a duzzie!) After he came home, it was to difficult in my post-C-section state to walk across the house 2 or 3 times a night to get him. So we started co-sleeping. Eventually we did move him to his bed and despite everything you read, he did move to his bed and he does sleep all night in his own room. With all of that said, I thought I would do 13 Thursday on Why we Co-sleep:
1. Because we get to actually sleep!
2. I can nurse in bed.
3. I can nurse and be back to sleep before most moms could even get the baby and start nursing.
4. I love to snuggle with them.
5. I love waking up in the morning and playing before we have to get out of bed.
6. Sleep!
7. Dr. Sears says that babies who sleep with their mothers develop a sense of security and confidence.
8. I don't have to sit up and rock a baby who won't sleep.
9. I don't have to get up repeatedly during the night.
10. I think Tyler sleeps later because he wakes up, looks at me and goes back to sleep.
11. I co-slept as a child, even sleeping on a twin bed in my parents room until I was around 7. I loved it.
12. I worry less.
13. We get to sleep!

My girls co-sleep. Well, not with us, but with each other. They have their own beds, just choose to sleep together. We think it's precious. And we all get to sleep! :)
Hey, I'm a friend of Amy Barrett's (and a blog stalker). I love this post because I co-sleep with my daughter, and LOVE it. I too said I would never do it, but I can't stand the thought of her being on the other side of the house. I say whatever works for your family is the way to go.
We are co-sleepers too. Preach on sister! I wouldn't have it any other way.
Did I write all of that?!! Haley slept w/ us until she was about 4. I did actually get Faith in her own bed around 4 months, but if she wakes up in the night then she is in bed with us!! We have not lost alot of sleep around here!!
