Weekend at Mamaw's & Papaw's House

This past weekend we went home to my mom's and dad's. It's always good to go home and eat at moms! The boys love going there, especially Samuel who likes to ride the 4-wheeler with my dad and burn sticks and pine needles.

One of the most notable things about my parents house is the fireplace. When I was 11-12 years old, my parents added on to our house including a family room with a large fire place. The cast iron insert was handmade by a man in Cabot. My dad and I would go down sometimes on Saturdays to watch him work on it. And the man had a red horse that he would let me ride.

The fireplace is my parents main source of heat. And my dad likes to keep it hot! He can load in large logs and even stumps and let it burn for a couple days. Growing up, I often wore shorts and t-shirts in the house during the winter and it's not uncommon to have to open the windows to cool the house down a bit.

Friday night as I sat on the couch, I kept looking at a frame with 3 pictures, but I couldn't figure out why it looked so funny. I finally got up to look at it closer and found that it had actually melted. The glass and pictures were fine, but the frame and half melted. Mom said it must have happened a couple nights before when dad had gotten the fire really hot. She said to just throw it away - I said not before I take a picture so I can blog it. LOL
