The kitchen is one of the things I instantly liked about our house. I like the natural stained oak cabients and the open top. I don't like the counter tops, but we've been talking about replacing those and maybe doing a tile backsplash. Not sure when we'll tackle that project though.
Okay, yes, we have two microwaves for those of you who were observant. One obviously was built into the house and the other was a wedding gift. We decided to just use them both and now I'm so used to having two, I don't think I could ever do without two. I cook a lot in my microwaves and often have both going.
Our house is a very open floor plan with the kitchen, dinning room and living room all flowing one into the other. This is the view from our dinning room into the kitchen.
Another thing I loved about the house was the built in desk in the kitchen. We are able to have a computer in a central location and I can literally blog or Facebook while I'm cooking dinner.
In the above cabinet I have all of my cookbooks and my china. I would one day like to have a nice china cabinet, but this works so well I kind of forget its there.
In fact, in 10 years of marriage - we've never used it. I know everyone tells you, you won't. It's true. I don't know why we haven't, we just never get it out. I actually have two sets. My other is in my hope chest and it coordinates with this set. My mom gave it to me before we got married and we've never used it either. This china is Federal Platinum by Lenox and the crystal is by Noritake.
My pantry. Another must when we were house hunting.

We had two microwaves for many years as well. We got a really nice big one (would rotate a large casserole!!!) for a wedding gift and there was one in the house when we bought it. I couldn't part with my big one so we used two. IT WAS WONDERFUL. Then finally the big one died and we just had the built-in. I missed having both. THen the built-in died and I couldn't live without a microwave so we bought a countertop model for the time being. Hopefully we'll replace the built-in soon and have two again. It's really great for reheating.
We have the Park Lane glasses too.
Your kitchen looks big and roomy. I love it. I know what you mean by the pantry being a must...cause I don't have one right now (thankfully we are renting and there is still hope) Love your china. Usually the china comes out more when your kids are older and you are hosting all the holiday functions. (We never got china...oh well)
I love your kitchen and the idea of two microwaves is actually very appealing.
I also totally agree with you about never using China. My mom thought we should register for it so we did. We got all of our settings we registered for and then some.
For eight years all but three settings have made it out of the boxes. Maybe the rest will make it out if we host Christmas or Thanksgiving some day...=)
I meant to say that only three have made it out of the boxes.
Thank you so much for you kind words on my blog. Gosh, that meant a lot!!!
By the way...your kitchen is beautiful :) An open floor plan is a MUST for me :) We just bought a house and I am SO excited to decorate it and make it our own!
