Two Front Teeth

Some of you will remember that Samuel broke his front tooth back in May. After being warned by the dentist that it could start turning dark, meaning it was dying, everything seemed perfectly fine. It never turned dark and I got used to the broken tooth and didn't even notice it anymore.

Then on Feb. 1, he decided to try one of his "Jedi skills" as he calls them on the ceramic tile floor in the kitchen and fell face first into the floor. After the bleeding stopped, I realized that he had knocked his front four (two bottom, two top) teeth lose and chipped the one next to the broken tooth. By morning they had all tightened back up, but within a couple days I could see the broken tooth getting dark. We already had a dentist appointment scheduled for later in the month, so they told me just to wait. By the time we went, the other front tooth had started to turn dark. Sure enough, they were both dying and we had to have them repaired. He had basically a root canal on his baby teeth and then they applied something like a veneer. The baby teeth will fall out, but since he was a late teether, the x-rays indicate he'll probably be 7 before he loses his first tooth, so we have about 2 years to go.

This is yesterday morning before we left for the dentist.

And this was tonight before bed. Doesn't it look better! His gums are just a little swollen from him working on his teeth, but the teeth look great!
And for whatever reason - just to prove he hadn't learned his lesson or because he was jealous of Eva Grace - he decided just hours after having the teeth fixed to bang his eye on the side of my bathtub. He instantly started swelling and today it is a deep purple. I somehow can't help but think that an ER visit is just around the corner!

I'm sorry but I can't help but laugh at the black eye and I too, know it is only a matter of time before we are at the ER with one of these crazy injuries! Bless his heart! At least he had perfect timing... how much more sympathy will he get for his teeth if he looks like he is totally beat up!

His teeth look really good though. They did a great job!
