10 Year Anniversary Trip

Kevin and I had a great time on our trip. We left on Wednesday and went to his brothers in Bentonville for the night. We went to Olive Garden with him and his girlfriend which was a lot of fun. The next day, we went to downtown Bentonville to the Wal-Mart visitors center. It's the original 5 & 10 that Walton started on the square and is pretty neat to go through. This is our second time to go and both times we've some how been there during Share Holders week (when Wal-Mart employees, partners, and celebrities from all over the world come in). After the visitors center we went to B.LaRue and I bought a cute little bracelet.

Then we headed to our cottage in Eureka. On the way, we stopped at this great little candy shop that we've passed dozens of times but never stopped. We bought some chocolate truffles that were wonderful!

We stayed in the same cottage where we spent our Honeymoon. While so many of our friends have gone out of the country for their Honeymoon, we're still so glad we stayed close to home and this is one of the reasons. We were able to get their shortly after our wedding, spend a very relaxing time and we are able to go back with very little trouble. The cottage is very private and comfortable.

One neat thing about each of the cottages are guest books where the guest can write down anything about their trip. Some just write simple thank yous, some give advice about places to eat, how many bubbles to put in the tub, etc. It's neat to read some of the things people write. One of the first things I did when I got to the cottage was to find what we wrote 10 years ago.

The cottage is about 20 minutes outside Eureka Springs and overlooks Beaver Lake. What's amazing is that their are 2 other cottages and the office below us and you can't even see them from our cottage. You really feel all alone when you're there. The windows in the front of the cottage can be open all day and night if you want because no one can see in.

On Friday, we spent all afternoon shopping in Downtown Eureka. We started with lunch at Mudd St. Cafe which was a neat little place in Underground Eureka. I had the Crab Lou Croissant which was very good.

Eureka Springs is such a unique city because it is literally built into the landscape. You can hike and explore the rocks and springs right in the middle of the downtown.
Isn't my man still good looking!

Friday night we ate at another favorite, Ermilio's. It's a great Italian restaurant in an old house in historic Eureka. If you're ever there, it's a must try. After dinner, we went back and watched our wedding video. It was fun to see people back 10 years ago and remember things that happened on that day.
Saturday we ate at another favorite, Sparky's, and did a little more shopping. That afternoon, we decided to hike down to the lake, something we didn't do last time. But we didn't even make it to the trail before finding these guys. They were right outside our cottage.
The hike was more beautiful than I realized. There are large cliffs below our cottages leading to the lake that were amazing. The lake was really high because of all the rain and a lot of debris had washed up on the shore.

We headed home Sunday morning. It was a great getaway and a great time to reconnect and remember things about our wedding and early marriage.

Happy 10 years! It's funny that you mention YoBaby - Mike used to sell it & I've been giving him a hard time - if he still worked there, he'd have a whole new marketing idea . . .
