Happy Birthday Marina!!

On Friday night, we went with our friends, James and Marina to Popular Bluff to see Casting Crowns for her 40th birthday. It's about a 2 hour drive, so we had lots of time to talk and visit - without the kids - which doesn't happen often. We ate at a Mexican restaurant called Maya.

At the end of the meal, James quietly told the waitress that it was Marina's birthday, thinking they would sing Happy Birthday and give her a little dessert. They sang all right, but right at the end of the song, this is what she got instead...

We were all a little shocked to say the least, Marina threated to get James back, and we all had a good laugh. Well, maybe the 3 of us a little more than Marina.
After Marina cleaned up a little, we went to see the concert. As always, it was very good and we enjoyed hearing them. They sang some of their older songs and a few newer ones. This was our 3rd time to see them in concert.

Casting Crowns in probably my favorite group out there. Their songs are very well written and have a great message. And they are not afraid to sing and speak the truth. Some of their songs are very worshipful while others are very direct and really make you think. And while some of their songs are to non-believers and believers, some are directed right at believers about the way we think and act in our Christian life, a gut check that I think most of us need now and then.
